St Matthew's Primary School & Nursery

Admissions

St Matthew’s School & Nursery serves not only its local community in Westminster, but also children from neighbouring boroughs.

For some pupils, this is a short journey over one of the bridges, and for others it might be a longer journey from the commuter belt because their parents work locally in Whitehall, Westminster or Victoria.

With Breakfast Club starting at 7.45am, and After School Club finishing at 6pm, working parents are well-catered for at St Matthew’s School.

For Nursery Class Admissions - 2024-2025
(full-time and part-time places available)

If you are interested in sending your child to St Matthew’s Nursery, we would be delighted to meet you!

A meeting and tour can be arranged with Mrs Selinas, one of our Heads of School, at a date and time to suit individual families.  Mrs Selinas will talk to families about the school and answer any questions you may have.

Please contact the school office (office@stmwschool.org.uk or 020 7504 0500) to arrange a time to visit the school.

For a place in our Nursery Class from September 2024  parents must complete the school’s Supplementary Information Form (SIF) and return this directly to the school office by 21st June 2024.  You do not need to apply through your local authority for applications to Nursery.

Each year, we have a mixture of full-time Nursery places (9am-3.30pm) and part-time places (morning or afternoon) available.

We offer 15 hours’ free childcare for children in our Nursery Class each week during term time.  Parents can also apply for the option to increase this to a full-time, 30 hour place (based on the school admissions criteria and where places are available). If the following criteria do not apply, additional sessions will cost £20 for each extra morning or afternoon.

A full-time, 30 hour place would require parents to either:

  • be eligible for 30 hours’ funding and apply for a code from the HMRC website
    (see below for more information)
    or
  • demonstrate that their child is eligible for Free School Meals (to reduce the cost of additional sessions to £10)
(contact the school office to check eligibility)
    or
  • be a child of a service family (to reduce the cost of additional sessions to £10)
    or

If you are eligible for the 30 Hours’ Free Childcare funding you need to apply for it here - https://www.gov.uk/sign-in-childcare-account and enter your information. The process may take up to 20 minutes to complete.  You will then be provided with a code which you can send to the school office.

Please contact Miss McAvoy, our administrator, in the school office if you need more information about this process.

Parents will be notified of autumn term Nursery places from Monday 1st July 2024.
